Dessie Virginia Dolphin, age 96, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at The Poppen Residence in Muskegon. She was born in Haleyville, Alabama on December 16, 1926. Virginia grew up in the south enjoying time with her sisters as they would harvest fields of cotton, tobacco and other crops. In her early twenties she ventured to Michigan for work and stayed raising her family in Fremont. On June 1, 1963 she married Clinton E. Graves and they moved to Howard City, Clinton preceded her in death in 1977. On April 22, 1987 she married Melbourne (Bob) Dolphin and Bob preceded her in death in June 2023. Virginia was also known as Jean, Aunt Jean, Mom or Grandma to many (other than her own). She was proud of her family and all the generational sets of twins in her family. She enjoyed gardening, canning, playing pool, dancing, country music, quilting, embroidering, the casino, The Moe-Z-Inn, and so much more. Her hand pieced quilts will be an everlasting hug to many. She is survived by her children, Novella Johnson, Rosella DeWitte, Debbie (Dave) Wolfsen, Ross (Beth) Graves, Michelle (Rick) Davis, Mitchell (Kristen) Graves, daughter in-law, Joan Combs and Bob's children - Dennis (Debbie) Dolphin, Debbie (Ray) Beye, Pat Bigorowski, Anne Dolphin and several grand, great grand and great great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Steve Combs, step son Gregory Dolphin, son-in-law, Mike Bigorowski and granddaughters, Jamie Vanderstelt, Shelley Land, Amy Wolfsen and Paisleigh Parrish. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 11 am at Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel. Graveside Services with Military Honors for Bob Dolphin will be held on Tuesday at the 1:30 Tuesday at White Cloud Cemetery.
