Donald W. Alkema, age 79, of White Cloud passed away on Sunday, November 28 2010, at Metron Nursing Center in Big Rapids. Don was born on October 13, 1931, in Grand Rapids to William J. and Ella Elizabeth (Lewis) Alkema and worked at Central Concrete in Big Rapids. Don enjoyed feeding the birds and deer and was a football and NASCAR fan. Don is survived by his devoted companion, Marilyn Goodrich; children, Jeff (Leisa) Alkema of Comstock Park, Sue (Mark) Scherphorn of Grand Rapids, and Cindy (Earle Bennett) Charwill of Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother and sister, Ray Alkema of Harbor Springs and Arlene Woltjer of Florida; Marilyns children, Carolyn (Steven Bergman) Gibson of Newaygo, Kathryn (Greg) Schulz of White Cloud, Duane Gibson of Lowell, Kevin (Becky) Gibson of White Cloud, and Monica Gibson of White Cloud; special friends, Ron Whelan and Ron Baker.
