Don Curtice, who passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the age of 87, will be remembered as a devoted family man, a proud veteran, and a cherished friend to many. Born in Fremont, Michigan on July 6, 1939, Don spent his life cultivating strong bonds and making lasting memories with those he loved.
Don worked as a Development Technician, where his commitment and expertise were well recognized. A proud veteran, he served his country honorably in the Air Force and will be further honored with military rites during his graveside service. A man of great passion for the outdoors, Don cherished time spent hunting and fishing. He was also an avid sports enthusiast, delighting in every opportunity to watch his children and grandchildren as they engaged in sporting events. His love for his family and community was evident in these shared moments and in his everyday interactions.
Don is survived by his loving children: Val (Matthew) Adams of Fremont, Lori (Dale Dyer) Johnson of Fremont, Kathy (Kirk) Reynolds of Louisiana, and Kurt (Lisa) Curtice of Holton, Michigan. He will be lovingly remembered by his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as his brother, Charlie Curtice, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Curtice, of 69 years, his parents, Russel Curtice and Jennie Curtice, his grandson, Chase Curtice, his son-in-law, Larry Johnson, his brother-in-law Gene Schotanus, and siblings Milo, John, Jean, Donna, and Chester.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, also at Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel. A graveside service, where military honors will be rendered, is scheduled for 2:30 pm at Fremont Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Harbor Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel.
