Don Shanahan, age 84, of Fremont, passed away Sunday morning after a brief illness. He was born on September 15, 1917, in Holland, Michigan, to Frank and Grace (Astra) Shanahan and married Geraldine Shaw on September 27, 1940, in Fremont. He was a member of the Fremont Christian Church Disciples of Christ, former vice-president of the Fish and Game Club, and a Navy Veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife Geraldine; daughters, Patricia (Paul) Baird of North Muskegon; Prudy (James) Vannier of Northville; and Lynda (John) Hopkins of Fremont and Orlando; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in Fremont with Rev. David Dickinson officiating. Interment is in Maple Grove Cemetery.
