Allen, Donald H. Donald H. Allen, age 77 of Fremont , passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at the Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus in Grand Rapids . He was born on June 1, 1925 in Lansing , Michigan to Herbert Arthur and Edna (Darrow) Allen and married Violet Conner on June 20, 1946 in Huffman , Texas . Don retired from the Gerber Products Company in 1988 where he was a fleet manager. He was a graduate of Michigan State University in the Business Administration Department; was a member of the Michigan and National Fleet Administrators; had served on the Fremont City Council; was a volunteer at the Fremont Area District Library; a former member of the Fremont Lions Club; and was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and had served as treasurer at the church many years. Donald also served in the United States Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Violet of Fremont; daughter, Donna Marie (Dennis) Ball of Hersey, Michigan; sons, D. Craig (Linda) Allen of Grand Rapids; Scott B. (Janet) Allen of Ann Arbor; Mark T. (Mary) Allen of Springdale, Arkansas; Brian D. Allen of Las Vegas, Nevada; 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; one brother, Herbert A. (Ellen) Allen of Traverse City. Funeral memorial services were held on Saturday, April 26, 2003 from the Fremont United Methodist Church with Rev. Bertram Vermeulen presiding.
