Donald L. Banacka, age 73, of Bridgeton, died Sunday, February 13, 2011, at his home. He was born on October 18, 1937 in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was the husband of Sheral I. (Barnes) Banacka and worked at Wolverine World Wide Manufacturing and more recently at Brigadoon Golf Course. Donald was a Vietnam Veteran serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy as a naval aircrewman/flight engineer. He was a member of the Community Fellowship Church in Bridgeton. Donald is survived by his loving wife Sheral; children, Donna (Don) Reckner of Ravenna, Ohio, Karen Ashton of San Rafael, California, Larry Banacka of Smithville, Texas, and Christi (Phil) Evans of Grant; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother David (Cheryl) Banacka of Bridgeton. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Della. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at 3 PM, at the Community Fellowship Church in Bridgeton with Pastor Mike King officiating. There will be visitation from 1 - 3 PM (prior to the service) at the Church. Military honors will be presented by the Holton American Legion. Interment will be in Bridgeton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Michigan with our deepest thanks for their love, care and assistance.
