Obituary

Donald C. Carbine, age 75 of Fremont, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services following a lingering illness. Donald was born on March 3, 1935 in Muskegon to Henry B. and Helen C. (Andrews) Carbine and has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area. Don graduated from Fremont High School in 1953 and joined the United States Army were he served during the Korean War. Don had been a machine operator at Sealed Power in Muskegon for many years until his retirement. Don enjoyed fishing and hunting and attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fremont. Don is survived by his sisters and brother, Jane Carbine of Fremont; Louise (Leon) Homan of South Carolina; Bob (Sally) Carbine of Holland; nephews and neice, Mike (Ginger) Homan; John (Kelly) Homan; Mark (Kathy) Homan; Amy (Joe) Carbine Stauffer; cousins, Mary Thomas of Fremont; Sarah (John) Wolfsen of Fremont and several other cousins. Don was preceded in death by his twin brother, Paul Edmond Carbine. Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 2pm at the Clark Cemetery. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Oncology Department or Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial - Newaygo County Cares for a Cause in memory of Don.
