Deater, Donald A. Donald A. Deater, age 82, of Grant passed away at home on Friday, December 7, 2007. He was born on December 6, 1925, in Muskegon to Frank and Clara (Artlip) Deater and served in the United States Marine Corp. in the battle at Iwo Jima. He married Bobbie Forsberg on April 8, 1961, and was a tool & die maker, locksmith, and small engine repairman. Don was a member of the Newaygo VFW Post #4249. Donald is survived by his wife, Bobbie of Grant; children, Tony (Jay) Deater of Nevada, Christopher (Dorothy) Deater of Sparta, Ty (Nancy) Deater of New Mexico, and Patty Griffiths of Arizona; step-children, Christine McCormick of Comstock Park and Ron (Pat) Wight of Grant; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Martin Deater of Muskegon and Frank Deater of Grand Haven; sister, and Mary Deater of California. He was preceded in death by brothers, Floyd, Paul, and Richard Deater; sisters, Laura Deater, Ilabelle Marchido, Marlene Horney, and Lena Deater. Memorial services were held on Monday, December 17, 2007, from the VFW Post #4249 in Newaygo with interment in Bridgeton Township Cemetery.
