Obituary

Donald Don G. Green, age 76 of White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Don was born on November 14, 1936 in Grant to Paul and Lois (Ackley) Green and later married Phyllis Davis on August 19, 1955 in Grant. Don has been a lifelong resident of the area where he owned and operated Northland Heating and Construction for over 30 years until his retirement in 2006. Don enjoyed working on, fixing, and drag racing classic cars; tractor pulling; and was a Nascar fan. Don had enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing in his younger years. Don also enjoyed traveling and riding his motorcycle and would often go for a drive only to travel 200 miles at the end of the day. Don received land from his father near Grant where he cut lumber, prepared the lumber and built a log cabin. Don also had been active in the little league and softball leagues in White Cloud and was instrumental in building the softball complex in White Cloud where he ran the Jerry Lewis Telethon Softball tournament for 12 years. Don was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church. Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis of White Cloud; his children, Tina (Paul) Myers of Newaygo; Sandra (Gregg) Alger of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Douglas (Judy) Green of White Cloud; Donna (James) Lieffers of Clarksville, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his brothers, Edward (Mary) Green of Leesburg, Florida; Vernon (Lila) Green of Florida; 2 brother-in-laws and 2 sister-in-laws; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was preceded in death by his father, Paul in 1988 and by his mother, Lois in 2005. VISITATION : Monday, February 18, 2013 from 12:30 3pm at the White Cloud United Methodist Church with MEMORIAL SERVICES at 3pm at the White Cloud United Methodist Church. INTERMENT : Big Prairie Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Newaygo Medical Care Facility Patient Fund.
