Donald Kieth Grimstead, age 76, of Fremont passed away on July 30, 2003 , at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont . He was born on May 3, 1927 , in Detroit to Ernest and Mabel (Ward) Grimstead and married Margaret Hoyt on May 29, 1965 , in Detroit . Don was a member of Plymouth Rock Free & Accepted Masonic Lodge #47 and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Detroit Valley of the Scottish Rite, Mahi Temple Miami , and Moslem Temple in Detroit . He was a Shriner clown named Koffee Kup and performed in Detroit and Florida . Don was a veteran of WWII and Korea Conflict, having served 13 years in the Navy. He was also a member of the Paralyzed Veterans Association. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Margaret; children, John (Roxanne) Grimstead of Sparr, Florida, Cheryl (Steve) McDougall of Port Charlotte, Florida, JoAnn (John) Gibbons of Fowlerville, Michigan, Rick Grimstead of Bonita Springs, Florida, Sally (Gene) Wyman of South Haven, Michigan, Charles (Janet) Jones of Jenison, Michigan, Bill (Cheryl) Jones of Redford, Michigan, and Jesse JD Whiting of Fremont; sister, Ollie Elhert of Flint; brothers Robert (Nola) Grimstead of Mt. Home, Arkansas, James (Joy) Grimstead of Mirmar, Florida, George (Nancy) Grimstead of Warren, Michigan; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews, and great nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest & Mabel; son, Brian Grimstead; and brother, Jack Grimstead. The funeral service for Don was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003 , from the Fremont United Methodist Church .
