Donald L. Hollowell, age 73 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont following a short illness.  Don was born on June 8, 1950 in Fremont to Keith and Phyllis (Osburn) Hollowell and graduated from Fremont High School in 1969.  Don joined the United States Navy where he served for 20 years during the Vietnam War and the Gulf War until his retirement in 1993.  After retirement from the United States Navy, Don worked at Valspar and several other companies until his final retirement.  Don met and married Dawn Weaver on October 13, 1984 and Dawn preceded him in death on June 16, 2023.  Don had adopted and raised racing greyhounds for several years, enjoyed woodworking, camping, and dirt track racing.

Don is survived by his children, Tammy (Kyle Grove) Jordan of Fremont; Christina Dennis of Norton Shores; his grandchildren, Carl (Lisa Murphy) Jordan of Fremont; Joseph Flaquel of Massachusetts; Caleb Flaquel of Fremont; Cody (Hailey Albright) of Holton; Branden Dennis of Fremont; 9 great grandchildren; his sisters, Marjorie Filipiak of Missouri; Louene (Donald) Auw of Grand Haven; Jean Hollowell of Fremont; several nieces and nephews.  Don was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn; his parents, Keith and Phyllis Hollowell; his brother, Billy Hollowell.
