Donald J. "Dutch" Koewers, age 95 of White Cloud, passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Dutch was born on December 25, 1913 in Zeeland, Michigan to Henry and Estella (Cameron) Koewers. Dutch has been a resident of the White Cloud area for the past 30 years and had been a roofer in construction until his retirement. Dutch was the oldest living member of the White Cloud Eagles and had enjoyed fishing, wood working, and tinkering on motors. Dutch is survived by his children, Fran (Roy) Biggs of Loveock, Nevada; Henry Koewers of Arizona; John (Glenna) Koewers of Marcellus, Michigan; Charles Koewers of Indiana; Albert Koewers of Grand Rapids; Linda Krytes of Grand Rapids; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lee Koewers on August 15, 2004; by his daughter, Darla and by a grand daughter Nanette Koewers. Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11am at the White Cloud Eagles following cremation. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the White Cloud Eagles to be given to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Dutch.
