Donald M. Lynnes, age 89 of White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Metron Nursing Center in Big Rapids. Don was born on June 23, 1924 in Chicago to Peter Olaf and Inga Marie (Stone) Lynnes and later moved to the White Cloud area in 1932 from Chicago. Don met and later married Ila M. Fisher on April 23, 1966 in White Cloud. Don had worked at the White Cloud Police Department for 16 years and then became a bailiff and court officer at the Newaygo County Courthouse for 11 years until his final retirement in 2002. Don was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Navy and was a life member of the White Cloud V.F.W. Post #2053 in White Cloud and was also a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Don enjoyed singing and listening to music, raising and riding horses, drawing, H.O. trains and was past president of the United Furniture Workers Union. Don is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ila of White Cloud; his children, Lee (Margaret) Lynnes of Robbinsville, North Carolina; Ron (Marsha) Lynnes of White Cloud; Dawn Beerman of Newaygo; Jack (Shelly) Lynnes of Hancock, Michigan; Mike (Jacki) Lynnes of Carp Lake, Michigan; 30 grandchildren; several great grand and great great grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy (George) Haines of White Cloud; several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Stephanie Lynnes; daughter-in-law, Sheri Lynnes; sister, Madeline Ditlow and his brothers, Clifford and Armond Lynnes. VISITATION : Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 2-5 at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel.
