Donna J. Conklin, age 91 of Grand Rapids and Fremont, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Donna was born on August 18, 1927 in North Muskegon to Ellis S. and Billie L. (White) Seymour and graduated from Fremont High School in 1945. Donna later married Paul Conklin on June 16, 1974 in Portage and Paul preceded her in death on July 31, 2014. Donna had been a dance instructor and an interior decorator at Terry's Furniture for several years. Donna had been an active member of the Fremont United Methodist Church which she joined at the age of 12 in 1939 and had been the Director of Liturgical Dance, been a mentor for the Confirmation members, sang and participated in all the choirs in the church, and had served as a Director for the United Methodist Women locally and at the district level. She had been the leader of the prayer chain at the Methodist church and also at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes in Grand Rapids. SURVIVORS : her children, Patrick Hamilton of Portage, Michigan; Vicki (James) Ayers of Hastings; Peggy (Jeff) Weiden of Grand Rapids; Steve Conklin of St. Joseph; Pat (Mickey) Conklin of Fremont; Shelley (Ron) Burnett of Florida; James (Jackie Jenkins) of Biglerville, Pennsylvania; her son-in-law, John Merritt of Hastings; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; her cat, Squeaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her daughter Jane Ellis Merritt; son, Gregory Allen Hamilton; and her grandson, L.Cpl. Jason Burnett.
