Donna M. McGowen, age 87 of White Cloud, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville following a short illness. Donna was born on January 6, 1934 in Fremont to Harry and Gertrude (Ridderman) Hooker and graduated from White Cloud High School in 1952. Donna met and married Leon McGowen on August 15, 1959 in Fremont and has been a lifelong resident of the White Cloud area. Donna had been a secretary at the White Cloud Public School for a short time and was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed working in her yard, attending Bible Study, church volunteer activities, teaching Sunday school, attended the Faith Bible Church in White Cloud, and treasured the time she spent at family gatherings with her family. Donna was well known for organ playing throughout Newaygo County where she played at various churches in White Cloud, Fremont, and Woodville communities. Donna is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leon of White Cloud; her children, Mark (Cameo) McGowen of White Cloud; Gail (Wally) Hitts of New Port Richie, Florida; Bob (Pam) McGowen of White Cloud; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren; her brother, Chuck (Nannette) Hooker of White Cloud; many nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Ann Hooker, Joan Kooman, Nancy Rayman, and Judy Hester. Family graveside services will be held in May at the Lincoln Township Cemetery in White Cloud following cremation.
