Doris Griffen, age 90 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility. She was born on April 12, 1910 in East Jordan, Michigan to David and Clara (Davis) Davis and married Leo Griffin on March 8, 1941 in Benton Harbor. Leo preceded her in death on November 17, 1986. She has been a longtime resident of the Fremont area where she had been a production worker in the label room at the Gerber Products Company in Fremont until her retirement in 1972. She is survived by her children, Carol (Sam) Hills of Fremont; Shirley Tibbitts of Holland; Ray Kemmerling of Grant; Bud Kemmerling of Holton; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; one sister and one sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 23, 2001 from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in Fremont with Chaplain Judy Corey presiding with interment in the Sherman Township Cemetery.
