Dorothy P. Lawrence, age 96 of Grant, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the Fountain View Retirement Village in Grant. Dorothy was born on September 16, 1926 in Sparta, Michigan to James and Leona (Richards) Truax and had lived in the Sparta area for many years and after retirement, moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and retirement years. Dorothy had worked as a dress buyer at Herpelshimer's Clothing Store in Grand Rapids for many years prior to her retirement. Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Ruth Merritt; Dene Truax; her brother, Jerry; several nieces and nephews, including her niece, Ailene (John) Pugno of Newaygo who cared for her in her final years. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place and private burial services will take place at the Algoma Township Cemetery.
