Dorothy M. Ober, age 81 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Dorothy was born on February 28, 1931 in Clyde, Kansas to Raymond and Mary (Lavasseur) McDonald and later married Earl F. Ober on November 5, 1955 in Fremont. Earl preceded her in death on September 24, 2005. Dorothy has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where she was a homemaker. Dorothy enjoyed reading, was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, cooking and truly treasured being a grandmother and great grandmother. Dorothy is survived by her children, Diana Thornbury of Newaygo; Kathy (Jim) Ferguson of Newaygo; Mike (Kathy) Ober of Caledonia; Pat (Linda) Ober of Rockford; Tom (Kim) Ober of Morrisville, Wisconsin; Sue (Bob) Scott of Janesville, Wisconsin; Irwin Ober of Evansville, Wisconsin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sisters, Virginia (Carl) Burnham of Hesperia; Mary Dake (special friend, Frank) of Hesperia; Geraldine (Ron) Bidelman of Lansing; her special niece, Dori (Bob) Dye of Newaygo; lifelong friend, Barb Sweet of Newaygo; several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Danny Thornbury; her sister, Pat Gleason and brother, Joe McDonald; Follow Dorothys wishes of cremation, private family graveside services will be held in the spring of 2013 at the St. Bartholomew Catholic Cemetery in Newaygo.
