Scripps, Dorothy Myra Dorothy Myra Scripps, age 94 of Hesperia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday evening, March 9, 2006 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Dorothy was born on December 26, 1911 in Walkerville to Leonard C. and Gladys (Tracy) Robinson and married Gerrit J. Jim Scripps on August 31, 1935 in Grand Rapids. She had been a bookkeeper for Fox Jewelers and Townhouse Furniture in Grand Rapids. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and navigating on family trips with the grandchildren and had been an active member of the Airstream Association. Dorothy was also a member of the Hesperia Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jim of Hesperia; her daughter, Mary Kay (Donald) Heaven of Hesperia; daughter-in-law, Nina Scripps of Franklin, NC; 9 grandchildren, David (Kerry) Scripps; Jill (Rick) Winchel; Jennie (Charlie) Carter; John Scripps; James (Jill) Scripps; Gail (Ted) Kidder; Jerry (Diane White) Heaven; Doug (Tricia) Heaven; Joy Heaven; 19 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her special caregivers Janet Taylor; Cathy Kunnen; Sharon Love; Mary Boes; Amber Helms; Kim Stevens. Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, James L. Scripps; sisters, Kay Prins; and Julia Roeser. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 13, 2006 from the Hesperia Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark Ames presiding with interment later in the spring at East Hesperia Cemetery. Friends may consider the Hesperia Public Library for memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy.
