Dorothy June Shutts, age 85 of Newaygo, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at her home. Dorothy was born on February 9, 1925 in Garfield Township to David and Etta (Weber) Dix and graduated from Fremont High School. Dorothy later married Millard Shutts on January 31, 1946 at the Newaygo United Methodist Church. Millard preceded her in death on December 30, 1983. Dorothy has been a lifelong resident of the Newaygo area where she was a homemaker and a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Dorothy was always dearly loved by her family She is survived by her children and their families, her daughter, Sharon (Paul) Wright of Newaygo, granddaughter, Lisa Stray of Newaygo and her children, Kennedy Lynn Stray and Carlie Marie Stray; grandson, Eric (Audrey) Wright of Leonard, Michigan and his children, Samuel Nathan Wright, Norah June Wright, and Elijah Paul Wright; her daughter, Mary (David) Holler of Fremont, grandson, Mitch (Sreyna) Holler of Fremont, granddaughter, Angie (Joe) Baldes and her child, Lola Clair Baldes and Angie is expecting a child in March; her son, Robert (Jean) Shutts of Newaygo, granddaughter, Allison Jo Shutts of Greenville; her brother, Richard (Kay) Dix of Hesperia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, David, Charles and Robert Dix. Private graveside services will be held at the Newaygo Cemetery. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Newaygo United Methodist Church Building Fund in memory of Dorothy.
