A devoted husband to his wife, Vivian (Vickie) Cope, their marriage of over 65 years began on September 2nd, 1959, and was blessed with a large, loving family. Doug is survived by his children: Dennis (Lori) Cope, Deb (Jon) Hall, Georgia (Dan) Schooley, Lori (Tim) Ward, and Wendy (Peter) Mzuka. He was the cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to many, and is also survived by his brother, Michael Cope. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Marguerite (Ball) Cope, his sons Doug Cope Jr. and David Cope, and his grandson, Bruce Pope Jr.

Doug spent his life dedicated to farming, a passion that began in his early years and continued throughout his life. He worked steadfastly for 15 years at Vogel Engineering and further continued his career at Oven Fresh Bakery for 18 years. Known for his love of the land, Doug delighted in spending time on his dairy farm, riding around to admire other farms, and enjoying a good cigar. His commitment to his community and family was evident in his 30-year dedication to foster care, reflecting his generous spirit and open heart. In addition to his love of farming, Doug enjoyed simple pleasures like visiting the casino, sharing coffee with friends, and cherishing his family gatherings. Doug will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of love, dedication, and hard work will continue to inspire his family and community.
