Sheller, Douglas E. Douglas E. Sheller, age 62 of White Cloud and formerly of the Croton area, passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 at his home. Doug was born on March 24, 1945 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Bainard Elroy and Carol (VanDuine) Sheller Sr. Doug joined the United States Army shortly after graduation and continued his career in the United States Military and Army National Guard for 23 years until his retirement from the armed forces. Doug married Carolyn Cowley on August 20, 1999 in White Cloud and has been a longtime resident of Newaygo County. Doug enjoyed the Michigan outdoors, hunting, fishing and being in the woods. He was a lifetime member of various hunting and fishing organizations. Doug was also a member of the Croton American Legion Post #381. Doug is survived by his wife, Carolyn of White Cloud; his children, Christopher Edward Sheller of Grand Rapids; Allen Douglas Sheller of Muskegon; Karen Lee Winston of Virginia; his stepchildren, Cynthia Louise (Ronald) Anderson of Allendale, Michigan; Steven Edward (Terri) Shue of Peoria, Illinois; his brothers, Gordon (Sharon) Sheller of Cedar Springs; Dale (Ann) Sheller of Green Castle, Pennsylvania; his sister, Brenda (Bob) Shaver of Grand Rapids; step brother, Brian (Nancy) Smith of Green Castle, Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Shirley Delores Wish of White Cloud. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Smith and father, Bainard E. Sheller Sr.; his brothers and sister, Bainard Elroy Sheller Jr., Jacqueline Baker, Jerry Sheller, Arden Smith, Darlin Smith. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 3pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with military rites under the auspices of the Croton American Legion, Post #381. Interment is in the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan on Thursday, August 23, 2007.
