Doyle E. Stroop, age 70 of Bitely, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at his home following a short illness. Doyle was born on January 29, 1947 in Kalamazoo to Henry Rodger and Virginia Ruth (Potter) Stroop and later moved to Holland where he graduated from Holland High School. Soon after his graduation, Doyle joined the United States Navy where served aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. Doyle later moved to the Traverse City area where he worked at the Water Treatment Plant for the City of Traverse City for many years until his retirement. Doyle married Marlene Kay Holmes on July 8, 1991 in Bitely and she preceded him in death on October 31, 2015. Doyle moved to the Bitely area in 1990 and enjoyed the Michigan outdoors and wildlife around his home. Doyle enjoyed socializing with friends, had raised various farm animals and wildlife throughout his years. Doyle was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Enterprise.

Doyle is survived by 5 brothers and sisters-in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date following Doyle's wishes for cremation. Friends may consider the Doyle Stroop family to assist with funeral expenses for memorial contributions in memory of Doyle.
