Edith K. Spurgeon, age 100 of Fremont, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2016 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Edith was born on February 6, 1916 in McClure, Ohio, the oldest of 11 children born to Garn and Frances (Morris) Middleton and later married Lewis Buzz Spurgeon on June 9, 1933 in Ohio. Lewis preceded her in death on July 19, 1996. Edith moved to the Jugville and White Cloud area from Ohio where she had been a homemaker and and later moved to Fremont. Edith enjoyed flower gardening and had many flowers gardens inside and outside. Edith loved the color of purple and people referred to her as the purple lady Edith was always organized and neat, enjoyed cooking, and treasured the time she spent with her family including babysitting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edith is survived by her sons, Bob (Yvonne) Spurgeon of Fremont; Jim (Mary) Spurgeon of Fremont; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Sandy Spurgeon of Fremont; many nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Buzz Spurgeon; her son, Roger Lee Spurgeon on December 29, 2009 and by her great granddaughter, Jaime M. Gillette. Following Ediths wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Friends may consider memorial contributions to TrueNorth - Center for Non Profit Housing for the South Woods Retirement Housing in memory of Edith.
