Obituary

Edna May Rinard, age 98 of Holton Michigan passed away peacefully at the Compassion Home in Fremont, Michigan on July 18, 2024. Edna was born on July 29, 1925 and she was the 1st born of 15 children in Benzie County, Michigan.

Edna is survived by her only living child; Judy Snow, her brother; Bill Sikorski, and her sisters; Nancy Bower, Sandra Witkop, Shirley Wilkop, and Barbara Kleeman, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; John and Sara Sikorski, many siblings, her husband; Alva Rinard, and their children Martha Denmen, Alice Schneider, Darline Short, John Rinard, Karen Alther and Janis Rinard.

She was a proud member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians and was the oldest living member of the tribe. She worked at Stokleys and Silver Mills canning plants. She was always helping out with her grandchildren, she enjoyed going to yard sales, doing punch needle yarn work, gardening and working with plants. She loved doing polka and dancing. watching soap operas, bird watching, and country music. Edna and Alva liked to travel in their spare time, loved going to visit their second home in Lakeland, Florida and enjoyed raising Boston Terrier puppies for years.

As a sister, mother, and grandmother to such a very large family, Edna had a lot to manage during her long lifetime. Through all the moments of joy and hardship, she was always willing to support her family in anyway that she could. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Compassion Home in Fremont, Michigan in memory of Edna. Visitation will be held at Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel on Friday, July 26, from 10:30 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Funeral service start at 11:00 A.M. and a luncheon will follow at the American Legion Post in Hesperia, Michigan starting at 12:00 P.M. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
