Obituary

Edward O. Haven, age 91 of White Cloud, formerly of Williamston, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing. Ed was born on February 27, 1920 in Saginaw, Michigan to George and Betsy (Irish) Haven and later married Beverly West on October 23, 1948 in Flat Rock, Michigan. Beverly preceded him in death on September 9, 2003. Ed had worked for the Michigan State Police for 25 years until his retirement in 1971 as Lieutenant where he worked at the Michigan State Police Headquarters in East Lansing. Ed then started work for the State of Michigan Management and Budget Office, Law Enforcement Grants Department for 10 years until his retirement in 1981. Ed and Beverly purchased property in the White Cloud area in 1970 and spent summers and weekends in the area until 1981 when they moved permanently to the White Cloud area. Ed enjoyed gardening, writing, and painting and served in the United States Army during World War II. Ed was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church, the Hesperia American Legion; member of the Michigan State Police Command Association; Central Michigan Law Enforcement Association; West Michigan Law Enforcement Association; Sherriffs Association; and the Fremont Lions Club. SURVIVORS : his children, Victoria (Joseph) LaForet of Amhurst, New Hampshire; Roberta (Gerald) Webster of Laramie, Wyoming; Edward (Kay) Haven of White Cloud; John (Kristen) Haven of Okemos; Peter (Christi) Haven of Kentwood; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. VISITATION : Sunday, June 19, 2011 from 6-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Monday, June 20, 2011 at 1pm at the White Cloud United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Bowman presiding.
