Edward Olewinski, age 82 of Newaygo and formerly of Greenville and Grand Rapids, passed away September 2, 2008 at his home. Edward was born on April 11, 1926 in Grand Rapids to Frank and Celia (Lenzski) Olewinski. Cecelia preceded him in death when Edward was 7 years old. His father, Frank later married Elma Lampie and together they raised Edward. Edward joined the Unites States Navy at age 17 and retired after 20 years of service. Edward had worked at the C & O Railroad and at Rapistan in Grand Rapids until his retirement from the workforce. Edward enjoyed hunting and fishing in the area. He is survived by his sisters and brother, Judy (Bill) Hepfer of Hawaii and White Lake; Lee (Nancy) Olewinski of Traverse City; Mary (Roger) Sullivan of Walker; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Joe Guinan of Grand Rapids and Jim & Deb Hilton of Grant.. Private memorial services will be held at a later time at the family property in Michigans Upper Peninsula. Friends may consider the Salvation Army for memorial contributions in memory of Edward.
