Ondersma, Edward J. Edward J. Ondersma, age 67 of White Cloud, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Ed was born on July 19, 1937 in Grand Rapids to Don and Clara (Feenstra) Ondersma and later met and married Shirley Conkright on April 18, 1987 at their home in White Cloud. Ed had been an air traffic controller at the Kalamazoo Airport for several years until his retirement in 1985. Ed was a charter member of the White Cloud Eagles, enjoyed fishing and hunting, shooting fireworks with his grandson, spending time and talking about his grandchildren with his friends. Ed and Shirley built their log home together on Black Smith Lake and enjoyed his dogs, Duke and Buddy. Ed is survived by his wife of 18 years, Shirley of White Cloud; his children and grandchildren, Nancy (John) Bryan of Scottsdale, Arizona and their children, Kortney, J.T., and Zac; Diane Robinson of Big Rapids and her children, Michelle and Brittany; his sisters-in-laws, Arla Conkright of White Cloud; Dorothy Weirs of Greenville; his brothers-in-laws, Don Conkright of Cheboygan, Michigan; Dick Conkright of Big Pine Key, Florida; his cousin, Michael (May) Conkright. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Don and Grace Ondersma and by his daughter, Kim Ciccarelli in 1987. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 18, 2005 from the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with Rev. John Moser of the Newaygo County Chaplaincy presiding with interment in the Rosedale Cemetery in Standale. Friends may consider the White Cloud Eagles for memorial contributions in memory of Ed.
