Edwin A. Towne, age 87 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Edwin was born on August 25, 1929 to Eugene A. and Mary I. (Aishe) Towne and later married Bonnie P. Page on December 11, 1950 in White Cloud. Bonnie preceded him in death on December 14, 2011. Ed was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean War as a guard as the Canadian Soo Locks. Ed began working at Gerber Products in Fremont at the age of 17 until he was drafted into the military and then returned to Fremont where he continued to work at Gerber Products Company in Fremont until his retirement at age 62. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on lawnmowers and bicycles, gardening, being in the woods and enjoyed working with his brothers, Floyd and Ronnie. Ed was a lifelong member of the White Cloud Church of God and helped build the original White Cloud Church of God and the church building at its current location south of White Cloud.

Ed is survived by his children, Jim (Pam) Towne of Englewood, Florida; Dorothy (Ron) Pummel of Newaygo; Diane (Bill) Krestakos of Comstock Park; Bonnie (Mike) Rosenborg of Canyonville, Oregon; Nancy Towne-Latronica of Wichita, Kansas; Sheila (Jeff) Ebenstein of White Cloud; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; his brothers and sister, Kenneth Towne of Oregon; Floyd Towne of White Cloud; Mary Gene Ogg of Newaygo; and Ronald Towne of Ketchikan, Alaska; his brother-in-law, Floyd Franklin of Fremont. Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Franklin; brother, Earl Towne; sister-in-law, Gladys Towne and brother-in-law, Don Ogg.

Celebration of Life Services will be held in the spring of 2017 at the White Cloud Church of God and will be announced on this web site when the date and time of services are available.
