Obituary

Stevens, Elaine M. Elaine M. Stevens, age 87 of Fremont. passed away Friday, October 19, 2007 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Elaine was born on January 25, 1920 to Henry and Glada (Stone) Blohm and later married Bill Red Stevens on January 18, 1936 in Muskegon. Bill and Elaine moved from Fruitport to Fremont in 2000 and she was a member of the Holton United Methodist Church. Elaine had worked in the maintenance department at the Owasippe Scout Camp for many years, had been a nurses aid for Visiting Nurses and had been a cook for various summer camps throughout West Michigan. Elaine enjoyed the outdoors, crocheting, needlepoint, dancing and swing music. Her favorite song was Starsdust. Elaine and Bill started riding motorcycles in 1941 and were one of the original members of the Muskegon Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club. Elaine enjoyed traveling across the United States and spent many years traveling in the RV. Elaine is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bill Red Stevens of Fremont; her children, Wayne (Gay) Stevens of Oregon; Kenneth (Maritta) Stevens of Muskegon; Judy (Scott) Revell of Holton; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her sister, Ardis (Less) Elliott of Maryland; her sister-in-law, Joanne Blohm of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her son, Max Stevens; her brothers, Dr. Hilden Blohm and Beryl Blohm. Memorial services were held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont with Rev. Jerry Selleck of the Holton United Methodist Church presiding with interment in the Bachelor Cemetery in Fountain, Michigan following cremation.
