Elizabeth Antonette Horrocks, age 79, of Hesperia, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at her home. Elizabeth was born on August 12, 1931, in Grosse Pointe, to Wesley and Mildred (Hanesworth) Hennig and married Ralph M. Horrocks on September 8, 1950, at Saint Columba Church in Detroit. Elizabeth worked at the State of Michigan, Employment Security Commission for 21 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Hesperia Quilters, taught a generation to sew as a 4-H leader for over 15 years (Thimblelinas), and knit treasured items for family members and friends through the years. She was also member of the State Retirees Association. Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ralph; children, Sandra Horrocks of Hartsel, Colorado, Nancy (Ralph) Bittner of Vassar, Michigan, Blaine (Nathalie) Horrocks of Freeport, Maine, Judy (Philip) Knape of Newaygo, and Steven (Jackie) Horrocks of Zeeland; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister Barbara Mann of France. She was preceded in death by her sister Constance Vancea. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011, from 6-8 PM at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. A memorial service celebrating Elizabeths life will be held at 11 AM, on Friday, May 13, 2011, at the Shiloh Church north of Ionia on Long Lake Rd. with Pastor Ken Harger officiating.
