Ellen J. Laisure, age 86 of Grant, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Ellen was born on November 3, 1926 in Grant to Orren Paris and Alice J. (Wiser) Wells and has been a lifelong resident of Grant. Ellen met and later married Ora Laisure Jr. on July 4, 1948 in Fremont and had worked at the Grant Public Schools as a cook for 33 years until her retirement. Ellen enjoyed baking and playing the piano. Ellen had been a member of the O.E.S. Unity Chapter and the Red Hat Society. She was a member of the Grant Community Church. Surviving is her husband, Ora of Grant; her children, Roy (Marie) of Grant; Lee (Sharon) of West Milwaukee; Judy (Scott) of Grant; her daughter-in-law, Connie; 14 grandchildren; 11great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her son, Tim; brothers, Leon, Ralph, and John E. Wells. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 11 AM at the Grant Community Church in Grant with interment will be in Parkview Cemetery in Grant.
