Ellis E. Twing III, age 77 of White Cloud, passed away Monday, January 27, 2003 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont . He was born on June 27, 1925 in Fremont to Ellis E. and Katherine (Matthews) Twing Jr. and married Kathleen M. Decker on April 23, 1946 in White Cloud. Kathleen preceded him in death on December 12, 1990 . Ellis had worked at the Gerber Products Company in Fremont as a personnel manager until his retirement. He had been active in the White Cloud and Newaygo County communities where he served as Justice of the Peace in White Cloud; served on the Newaygo County Road Commission; Newaygo County Parks Commission; was active in United Way; and served on the White Cloud City Council. He was a member of the Bay Shore Community Church in Fort Meyers , Florida and was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Marine Corps. He is survived by his children, Charles (Verna) Twing of Hunstville, Alabama; Dale (Sue) Twing of Fremont; Jon (Laura) Twing of Tipton, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Dykman; Jenetia (Joe) Hanna; Becky Twing; Todd (Bridgette) Twing; Jason (Stephanie) Twing; Jared (Christine) Twing; his sister, Dolly Voss of White Cloud; his niece, Patricia Miller of Brighton. Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at the White Cloud United Methodist Church with Rev. Bertram Vermuelen and Honorable Terrance Thomas presiding with interment in the Lincoln Township Cemetery . Friends may consider the White Cloud Softball Complex for memorial contributions.
