Emily I. Ranger, age 93 of Newaygo, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Emily was born on November 11, 1915 in Kent County to Leemon Elsworth and Anna J. (Pyard) Hiler and married Claude Ranger on November 23, 1937 in Newaygo. Claude preceded her in death on February 20, 1982. Emily had owned and operated Emilys Dress Shop in Newaygo for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Newaygo United Church of Christ and was a former member of the Rebbekas. Emily had enjoyed playing cards and loved to deer hunt with her husband and had shot her first buck with bow and arrow before 1982. Emily truly cherished the time spent with her family. She is survived by her children, Joann (James) Christensen of Hastings; Gail Grandon of Newaygo; Charlene Corrigan of Holt; Allen Ranger of Muskegon; foster daughter, Ruby Gilewski of Grand Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 1 sister and 4 brothers. VISITATION : Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Monday, June 1, 2009 at 1pm at the Newaygo United Church of Christ. INTERMENT : Newaygo Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Newaygo Medical Care Facility Activities Fund.
