Eric Scott Harper, age 53 of White Cloud, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at his home on Sunday, July 1, 2018 following a long battle with Lou Gerhigs Diseases. Eric was born on March 14, 1965 in Fremont to Harry W. and Helen Jannette (Bitson) Harper and graduated from White Cloud High School, Class of 1983. Eric was a lifelong resident of the White Cloud area where he enjoyed working on the family's Centennial Farm, raising Black Angus beef. Eric was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed being in the Michigan outdoors. He enjoyed listening to country music and had a fondness to Waylon Jennings songs. Eric was an avid University of Michigan fan and was independent throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed cats and was always willing to help others whenever they needed it. Eric had worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and welder for Sub Surface Contracting for several years and later began work as a mechanic at Timberland Equipment in White Cloud where he worked until his health declined and he retired. Eric is survived by his mother, Helen Jannette Harper of White Cloud; brother and sister, Harold (Rachael) Harper of Grand Haven, Michigan; Kris (Tom) Jordan of Parchment, Michigan; sister-in-law, Peggy Harper of White Cloud, Michigan; aunts and uncle, Leonard and Nancy Harper of White Cloud, Michigan, Marjory Bitson, of Boca Raton, Florida; nieces and nephews, Jon and Melissa Harper, Nathaniel and Erin Harper, Maria and Laurel Jordan, Genevieve Harrison and Cassandra Harper; Zack Machiele; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Harper; his brothers, Hugh Harper in 2009 and Neil Harper in 2010, and sisters, Rebecca (Harper) Machiele in 2014; Helen Louise (Harper) Ammer in 2018 Memorial Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 1pm at the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery.
