Erma A. B. Palmiter, age 100 of Newaygo, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at her home. Erma was born on the family homestead in New Boston on January 30, 1919 to Fred and Clara (Michling) Much. Her father, Fred passed away during World War I when Erma was 11 months and she was raised by her mother and step-father, Clara and Ernest Pichan. She later married her high school sweetheart Harley Palmiter on April 6, 1940 in New Boston, Michigan. Harley preceded her in death on October 12. 2004. Erma had been a school teacher for 42 years in New Boston and later retired from Woodhaven Schools. Erma moved to the Newaygo area in 1991 from Pinckney and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in White Cloud. Erma was well known for her crocheting talents and made towels, afghans and other items for many people and sold items to benefit the Christ Lutheran Church Preschool. Erma also was well known for card playing abilities and played cards until her passing. She truly cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Erma is survived by her children, Patricia (James) Wiseley of Newaygo; Terry (Debbie) Palmiter of Carthage, North Carolina; Gary Palmiter of Newaygo; Roger Palmiter of Newaygo; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Harley and by her daughter-in-law, Vickie Palmiter.

FUNERAL SERVICES : Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church 701 S Evergreen White Cloud MI 49349. INTERMENT : Newaygo Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Christ Lutheran Church Preschool.
