Ernest M. Ball, age 78 of Muskegon, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at his home following a short illness. Ernest was born on January 13, 1940 in Middleville, Michigan to Ernest John and Dorothy May (Johnson) Ball and later graduated and received his Master's Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. Ernest met and later married Christy Longstreet on November 14, 1965 in Grand Rapids. Ernest had been a teacher at Godfrey Lee School, Marshall and later retired from the Reeths-Puffer Schools where he taught physical education and 6th grade for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting with the guys at Buck Camp, had been a high school baseball umpire for over 50 years with the Umpires of the Shoreline Association, had been a volleyball umpire, enjoyed daily golfing and was a member of the Lincoln Golf Club, a member of the Mr. Quick Coffee Club and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Ernest is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christy of Muskegon; his children, Cindy (Tom) Miskowiec of Clarksville, Tennessee; John (Jacquelyn) Ball of Twin Lake; his grandchildren, Kelsie Miskowiec, Jordan Ball, Jadyn Ball; his sisters, Cheryl (Lon) Myers of Grandville; Chris Mugridge of Middleville; his sister-in-law, Mary (Mark) Anway of Sunnyville, Texas; niece and nephews, Steve Myers, Mike (Kelly) Myers, Carrie Mugridge; and his dog…Abby.
