Estelle B. Pekarik, age 94 of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Florence Hand Nursing Home in LaGrange, Georgia. Estelle lived in Chicago until 1976 and then moved to Florida until 2000 when she moved to Denver, Colorado to live with her daughter Linda. She later moved back to LaGrange, Georgia with her daughter Elizabeth. Estelle was born on August 15, 1913 in Chicago to Raphael and Elizabeth Burke, who were originally from White Cloud. Estelle met and later married Joseph Pekarik on May 12, 1934 in Chicago. Joseph preceded her in death on August 24, 2001. Estelle had been an executive secretary in the medical field for many years until her retirement and was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in LaGrange, Georgia. Estelle enjoyed music and was the drummer in various bands throughout her lifetime. She played drums in a band in Florida until the age of 85. She was a lifetime member of the Chicago Federation of Musicians, enjoyed crocheting, needle point, and creating miniature dollhouses. Estelle is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Gerald) Engel of White Cloud; Linda (Glenn) Kumnick of Denver, Colorado; Elizabeth (James) Franks of LaGrange, Georgia; her grandchildren, Debra Harvell; Michael Franks; Suzanne (Robert) Holland; Kary (Karen) Kumnick; Bryan (Jennifer) Engel; Brad (Jennifer) Engel; her great grandchildren, Christopher Harvel; Elizabeth-Anne Harvell; Brittney Franks; Joseph Franks; Drew Engel; Ryan Engel; Evan Engel; Carsen Engel, Madison Kimnick. Funeral Mass Services were held on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud with Rev. Father Peter Chukwa presiding with interment St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
