Ethel M. Adair, age 87 of Fremont, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Ethel was born on August 10, 1921 in Fremont to Charles L. and Wava D. (Craven) Bowman. Ethel graduated from Fremont High School in 1939 and later graduated from Western Michigan Teachers College in Kalamazoo. Ethel met and later married Fay F. Adair on June 21, 1952 in Fremont and Fay preceded her in death on July 20, 2002. Ethel had been a home economics teacher at the Fremont High School for many years until her retirement and also enjoyed reading, cooking, and jigsaw puzzles. In her younger years, Ethel and Fay enjoyed traveling and camping together as a family. She has been a lifelong member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. Ethel is survived by her children, Judy (Bob) Watters of Belmont; Ellen (John) Jakeway of Rockford; John Adair of Grand Rapids; 5 grandchildren, Daniel Grossenbacher, David Grossenbacher, Katie Watter (fianc, Nick Naud), Rob (Jessica) Watters, Dan Watters; her brother, Charles Bowman of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Marion Smith of Grand Rapids and Georgia Mengers of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Cronican. VISITATION : Monday 6-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday at 1pm at the Fremont United Methodist Church. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : American Cancer Society or Fremont United Methodist Church.
