Eugene N. Grey, age 80 of Hesperia, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen House in Muskegon following a long illness. Eugene was born on March 14, 1928 in Ravenna, Michigan to Namen and Sadie (Clark) Grey and met and later married Velma June Eitniear on October 15, 1947 in Shelby, Michigan. Eugene has been a lifelong resident of the West Michigan area and had worked as a machinist at the Teledyne Continental Motors Company in Muskegon until his retirement in 1973. After retirement from Teledyne, Eugene continued farming northwest of Hesperia and was also a self employed mechanic. Eugene enjoyed working all his life and enjoyed watching a good western movie. He was also a member of the Ferry Wesleyan Church. Eugene is survived by his wife of 60 years, Velma of Hesperia; his daughter, Sheri (Kevin) McPeck of Rapid City, South Dakota; his sons, Randy (Lyn) Grey of Schoolcraft; Keith Grey of Hesperia; Glenn (Marlita) Grey of Hesperia; 10 grandchildren 6 great grandchildren; his sisters-in-laws, Ellen (Carl) Grey of Twin Lake; Vera Croff of Montague; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Grey on September 14, 2002; by his sisters, Shirley Baker and Thelma Jones and by his brother, Donald Grey. VISITATION : Tuesday from 12-1pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday at 1pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : West Hesperia Cemetery.
