Evelyn M. Geeting, age 87 of Fremont, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Evelyn was born on Aug. 21, 1921 to Harry and Nellie (Garlough) Canniff and married Lawrence Geeting on Aug. 10, 1945 in Fremont. Evelyn had worked as a telephone operator in Fremont, a secretary at Consumers Power and later retired as secretary at the Career Tech Center in Fremont. Evelyns love of reading lead her to volunteer at the Fremont Area District Library. Evelyn also loved to work in her flower garden. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Larry, many times to Hawaii and Florida. She attended the Fremont United Methodist Church and was a member of the Red Hats Evelyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Larry; sisters-in-laws, Mona Jean Bode; Marlene Canniff; Rosemary Geeting; brother-in-law, Harry Geeting Jr.; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Norman Canniff, Carl Canniff and sister, Mable Wheeler. VISITATION : Friday 5-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday at 11am at the Fremont United Methodist Church. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery.
