IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn L.
Hult
August 10, 1922 – May 2, 2014
Evelyn L. Hult of White Cloud went home to be with her Lord on May 2, 2014 following a brief illness. She was born August 10, 1922 on the family farm of Leo and Ethel (Middleton) Elliott, northeast of White Cloud. She attended White Cloud Public Schools, graduating in 1939. Following graduation, she moved to Grand Rapids, enrolled in the Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing obtaining her Registered Nursing Certificate, then beginning her nursing career at Butterworth Hospital in pediatrics. She married Carl R. Hult at the White Cloud Methodist Church on June 24, 1944. At the end of World War II, the couple moved from Grand Rapids to Chicago and then to the Chicago suburb of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, where they raised their two sons. As the boys got older, she again worked as a nurse, first in the Hinsdale Sanitarium and Hospital and then at Godair Retirement Home. Following Carl's retirement in 1986, Carl and Evelyn returned to White Cloud and lived in a home on one corner of what had been his family's farm. They loved to travel and camp and managed to see almost all of the U.S. and Canada this way. A partial list would include Yellowstone and the Tetons, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Big Bend area of Texas, Southern California, Pacific Northwest, Alaska and the Alcan Highway (before it was paved), Canada's James Bay, and the Canadian Maritimes. In addition, they particularly enjoyed their annual trips to Parke County, Indiana for the two week covered bridge festival. She was a doll collector, particularly enjoying repairing damaged bisque dolls both their bodies and clothing. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening as well as taking care of her lawn.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 66 years, Carl; her parents, Leo and Ethel; her two brothers and their wives, George (Natalie) Elliott and James (Bonnie) Elliott. She is survived by her two sons, Richard (Bonna) Hult of Big Rapids and Dennis (Cheryl) Hult of Howard City; three granddaughters, Dara (David) Eldridge of Warrensburg, Missouri, BreAnne Sthultz of Watertown, Massachusetts; and Kylene (Andrew) Goforth of Fenton, Michigan; two step grandchildren Brian (Michelle) Campbell of Howard City, and Becky (Eric) Flegel of Ravenna; nieces Laura Masters, Kathy Smith, and Cynthia (Dave) Bellow, nephews Raymond (Becky) Elliott, Leon Elliott, and Glenn Foster; and 12 great grand and step great grandchildren
