May, Evelyn L. (Smith) Evelyn L. (Smith) May, age 88 of Kalamazoo and formerly of White Cloud, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2003 at the Alamo Nursing Center in Kalamazoo. She was born on July 8, 1914 in Woodville, Michigan to William Alfred and Emma (Cairns) Smith and married Arthur W. May on August 22, 1936 in Grand Rapids. Arthur preceded her in death on August 26, 1987. She moved to the Kalamazoo area in 1995 from White Cloud where she had been a resident since 1937. She was a special mother and grandmother who enjoyed her garden and keeping a nice home. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her son, Dale (Ruth) May of Portage; her grandchildren, Debra (Tim) Orosz; Julie (Scott) Londry; great grandchildren, Heather Orosz; Kevin Orosz; Nathan Stegman; Derek Londry; her sisters, Margaret (Warren) White of Howard City; her brother, Carl (Barbara) Smith of Newaygo; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-laws, Elsie Smith of England; Edith Smith of Holton; brother-in-law, Herb May of Fremont. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Smith; Ray Smith; Frank Smith; sisters, Clarabelle Smith and Luella May. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 19, 2003 from the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with Pastor Ron White of the Stanwood Free Methodist Church presiding with interment in the White Cloud Cemetery.
