Evelyn Wilkinson, age 87 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Evelyn was born on December 14, 1916 to Albert and Bernice (Keen) Arendsen and later married Charles Wilkinson on February 18, 1938 in Fremont. Charles preceded her in death on October 29, 1971. She has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where she had been an active member of the Fremont Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She had been a cook at the Meadows Nursing Center in Fremont for many years until her retirement and also served in the Red Cross Gray Ladies for several years and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She is survived by her children, James (Nancy) Wilkinson of Fremont; Winston (Carolyn White) Wilkinson of Lansing; her brother, Wyon Arendson of Hesperia; her grandchildren, Victoria Wilkinson of Fremont; Regina Halley of Grand Rapids; her great granddaughter, Jamie Halley of Grand Rapids; her sister, Joan Briggs of Dalton Township; her son-in-law, Lynn (Pat) Frede of Grand Rapids; special friend Anna Rowe and her children, Brandi, Jonathon, and Ryan; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; by her daughter, Barbara Frede; and by her sister, Beatrice Jefferson. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 25, 2004 from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Rev. David Dickinson of the Fremont Christian Church, Disciples of Christ Church presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
