Brooks, Everett Everett D. Brooks, age 76 of White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Spectrum Health Services Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. He was born on August 12, 1927 in Dixon, Illinois to George Elliott and Elizabeth May (Becker) Brooks and married Anna Allers on November 10, 1956 in White Cloud. Everett has been a resident of the White Cloud Area since 1949 where he had been a machinist at Benedicts Manufacturing in White Cloud until his retirement in 1999. He was an avid reader of books of which he enjoyed studying astronomy, World War II and World War II Vintage Airplane books. Enjoyed the music of the Big Band Era, was devoted to the Republican Party, an avid storyteller and enjoyed contributing to many charities. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant in communications. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anna of White Cloud; his children, Allen Brooks of Knoxville, Tennessee; Jan (Charlie) Smith of White Cloud; Marian (Craig) Bird of White Cloud; Ed Brooks of White Cloud; Ilene Culver of Newaygo; his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Tony Brooks and daughter, Sierra Desire; Chelsea, Emma, Leonard, and Jackie Smith; Krista, Andrea, Rebecca Bird; Joshua Culver; Rachel Culver and her son, Aidan; two sisters, Theodora Teddy Westfall of Sterling, Illinois; Jean Bell of Dixon, Illinois; his brother, Bill Brooks of Indianapolis, Indiana; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Private memorial services were held at a later time following cremation.
