Everett D. Maat, age 56 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Mercy Health – Sherman Campus in Muskegon. Everett was born on October 4, 1960 in Fremont to Almer and Shirley (DeLong) Maat and graduated from Fremont High School in 1978. Everett has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where he had served on the Fremont Fire Department, had been a truck driver, worked in construction – remodeling homes, and had worked part time at Cornerstone Radiator in Fremont. Everett enjoyed Nascar Racing, tinkering in his garage and helping his neighbors with handiwork around their homes.

Everett is survived by his mother, Shirley Maat of Fremont; his sisters and brothers, Laurel Maat of Grand Rapids; Mary (Jeff) Hale of Austin, Texas; Jayne Baughan of Bitely; Jim (Annette) Maat of Big Rapids; Karl Maat of San Jose, California; his nieces and nephews, Jason Frantz, Derek Frantz, Christopher Baughan, Andy Maat, Steve Maat, Robby Hale, Megan Maat; his great niece, Lillie Ann Baughan; his aunts, Burnetta Weaver of Fremont; Marjorie DeLong of Sebring, Florida; Maxine Annis of Hesperia; special friends, Tracey and Ken Pagel; Jeff Luchies; and Barb Thumser. Everett was preceded in death by his father, Almer Maat on January 26, 2012.

VISITATION : Friday, December 16, 2016 from 12:30 – 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. MEMORIAL SERVICES : Friday, December 16, 2016 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : East Hesperia Cemetery.
