Flora Belle Chamberlain, age 88 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Flora was born on July 8, 1917 in Fremont to George and Rose (Mathews) Chamberlain and has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area. She grew up on Darling Street, graduating from Fremont High School and later moved to the North side of Fremont Lake where she lived for many years. Flora had always been a hard worker and was always doing for others in the community throughout her lifetime. She had worked as a waitress for several years in her younger years, then went into a partnership with her brother, Nels Chamberlain in the vending machine business, worked with Press Jones for a couple of years and later retired from McDonalds in Fremont where she was a hostess. Flora was a member of the Fremont Moose Ladies Auxiliary. Flora will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Judith Saum Anderson and husband, William of Grant and children, Melissa (Brian) Beeg, Bryan (Cynthia) Saum, Amy (Todd) Putnam; Robert Chamberlain and wife Patricia of Lexington, Kentucky; David Chamberlain of Flint; Sally Slaughter of Indianapolis, Indiana; nephew-in-law, Ronald House and his children, Thad, Andre, and Heather. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Alvin Chamberlain in 1988, Donald Chamberlain in 1977, Nels Chamberlain in 1965; her sister, Dorothy in 1951 and by her niece, Donna Chamberlain. Funeral memorial services were held on Sunday, March 26, 2006 from the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with Pastor Lucky Fulton of the Amazing Grace Acres Church presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may consider the Newaygo Medical Care Facility or the Fremont Moose Lodge for childrens activities for memorial contributions in memory of Flora.
