Westbrook, Forrest Forrest V. Westbrook, age 82 of Fremont , passed away Thursday, October 17, 2002 at the Mercy Hospital in Muskegon . He was born on September 8, 1920 in Aetna near Fremont to William Leon and Jessie Belle (Dake) Westbrook and married June Derks on December 31, 1946 in Fremont . Forrest retired from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission in 1982 where he had been the store manager for many years. He was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church where he had been active; was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose where he achieved the Pilgrim Degree; Fremont Lions; Fremont V.F.W, Laurels Post #6898; had been a member of the Fremont Fire Department for over 30 years; had been active in the Fremont Packer Backers and a community volunteer for several years. Forrest served in the United States Navy Air Corps in the Pacific during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June of Fremont; his children, Jerry (Lisa) Westbrook; Doug (Kathy) Westbrook; Joni (Mike) Voyles all of Fremont; 9 grandchildren, Jeff, Missy, Jodi, Cari, Ashley, Jerry Jr.; Camaron, Alicia, Brooklynn; 6 great grandchildren, Erik, Dylan, Mercedes, Hunter, Tatum, Keaton; sisters, Bonnie Maas of Florida; Clarice Murphy of Walkerville; brother, Robert Westbrook; many nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by brothers, Cyril, Charles, Rex; sister, Violet. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 21, 2002 from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Rev. Dan Duncan of the Fremont United Methodist Church presiding with military rites give by the Newaygo V.F.W. Sportsmans Post #4249. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery .
