Van Leeuwen, Frances Rosetta Frances Rosetta (Myles) Van Leeuwen, age 82 passed away at her home on Sunday, July 21, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. Frances was born on June 13, 1920 in Clinton, Indiana to Decker and Lydia Myles and lived in Royal Oak, Michigan during her younger years where she met and married Robert P. Van Leeuwen on December 2, 1939 in Detroit. Before moving to Fremont in 1954 Frances and Robert lived in Royal Oak, Michigan; Anderson, Indiana; Washington, D.C.; and Terre Haute, Indiana. Frances enjoyed working as a volunteer in the coffee shop at Gerber Memorial Health Services until her health caused her to resign. She recently became a member of the National Society of "Colonial Dames XVII Century" which required much research into her family history. She was also a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert; daughter, Carol Poland of Muskegon; four grandchildren, Stephen (Shelly) Sutter; Matthew (Laura) Sutter; Melissa Crysler; Angela (Mark) Zacharias; 4 great grandchildren, Taylor Sutter; Julia Sutter; Nicole Van Dyke; Jordan Dion. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July27, 2002 from the Fremont United Methodist Church with Rev. Bertram Vermeulen presiding. Friends may consider the Fremont Area Community Foundation for either the Fremont United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or Hospice of Michigan Newaygo County, or Newaygo County Cancer Society.
