Francis Louis Kanniainen, age 79, of Baldwin passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Francis was born on April 12, 1939, in Houghton County, Michigan to Emil and Hilda Marie (Ruohoniemi) Kanniainen and married Lucille Ann Harrower on June 2, 1962, in Dearborn, Michigan. Francis was a glass-man for Ford Motor Company and retired later from Ford Motors. Francis enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, and cherished time spent with his family. He was a member of the UAW Local #900 and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Francis is survived by his loving wife, Lucille; children, Mike Steven (Cathy) Kanniainen of Chillicothe, MO, Susan Marie (Rebecca Megher) Kanniainen of Lincoln Park MI, and Beverly Lynn (Paul) Slovik of River Rouge, MI; grandchildren, Tiffany (Dan), Michael (Liz), Jennie (Kyle), William, Mathew, Cody (McKenzie), Dustin, Ryan, and Hailey (Chadrick); and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his brothers and sisters, Lila, Emil Jr., Yalmer, Violia, and Alden; and by his buddy "Ryder." Memorial services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont with Pastor Lucky Fulton officiating. There will be visitation from 12 – 1 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider Hospice of Michigan.
